A 1977 case, Bounds v. Smith, changed the rights of prisoners by giving them access to the courts. As a result, states have law libraries in the correctional systems. Research this issue with at least two scholarly sources and answer the question: what positive and/or negative effects has this created for prisoners and what positive and/or negative effects exist in the court and corrections systems around the country?
